Introduction
The Pacific Region CIC Bursary was established by the Regional Cadet Instructor School (Pacific) in 2007 under the authority of PRCI 213. Awards are
intended to encourage and assist CIC officers in pursuing post-secondary education.

How to Apply
The 2016 Application Deadline is 18 November 2016!
There is no "application form". CIC members wishing to be considered for the Bursary are required to supply an application package which demonstrates both the screening and selection criteria.
Each application package should contain a properly formatted military letter (the Military Writing Aide-Memoire is recommended for use as a reference). The RCIS (Pac) is a DND Addressee. Use file #7332-1. The letter must be directed to the Officer Commanding, RCIS (Pac), and should persuasively convince the Selection Committee of the best applicant. Dates and details of the screening and selection criteria, as well as past, current, and planned future involvement with the Canadian Cadet Organization should be clearly indicated. A well-rounded officer who demonstrates community and cadet service, as well as strong academic achievement, will have the strongest application. Financial need must also be indicated, with schooling costs and existing sources of revenue explained. Candidates who self-help with summer or part-time winter employment are usually at an advantage with the Selection Committee.
In addition to the military letter, the application package must include:
- Proof of current service and successful engagement with a Pacific Region Corps or Squadron (including RCAOps and Sail Centres). May be a component of a CO's letter of recommendation.
- Proof of successful CSTC engagement (PER or letter)
- Course report from BOQ/BOTC
- Additional Course Reports from RCIS (if trained beyond BOQ/BOTC)
- Document(s) either indicating application*/acceptance to a post-secondary institution, or ongoing studies therof
- Recent transcript (high school if entering first year post-secondary)
- Both the CO's and Employer (or Teacher) recommendation letters (must have the CO's plus one additional
letter)
*If the member applying for the Bursary has applied, but not yet been accepted to an educational institution, they may still be selected, however, funds will not be forwarded until full acceptance has been confirmed.
Several candidates have been disadvantaged in past years by neglecting the details of their application; required documentation (including transcripts!) have been noted to be absent. Reference letters should be no older than 6 months, and should speak to the worthiness of the applicant being awarded the CIC Bursary. The Selection Committee will not engage in additional research if the documents are not supplied.
Application packages must be received by the RCIS (Pac) by close-of-business that day. Facsimiles, emails and late submissions will not be accepted. Applications may be sent by mail, courier, or hand-delivered. Packages sent within 10 days of the deadline are recommended to be forwarded by courier, or hand-delivered. No responsibility will be taken for late-delivered submissions.
